Elizabeth Tulsky , LCSW
(she/her)
Therapy with me is a highly collaborative and relationally-focused process that requires mutual trust, honesty, and openness. Because we are all deeply unique, my work with you will be too but you can count on me to show up with empathy, curiosity, and a genuine lack of judgment. I believe there is tremendous power in being seen by others and being able to see and hold all parts of ourselves with care and compassion. I will often bring the context of the environment (such as individual trauma, the political climate, the medical system, systemic oppression, etc.) into the room as we work toward deeper understanding. There will also be space for humor, levity, creativity and anything else that you may want to co-create in this space together. I also believe mutual feedback is important I hope to foster a space where you feel comfortable enough to give me feedback and that we can establish enough trust that with your consent, I can challenge and encourage you to look at and talk through things that might be difficult if it will help you achieve your goals for therapy, whatever they may be.
I work with youth, adolescents, adults, and people in relationships (families, romantic partnerships, etc.). I have extensive training and experience working with people who have experienced trauma, loss, or chronic stress as well as those seeking to heal from relational or attachment injuries. I also support people around general life transitions, moral injury, work or school stress, self-esteem issues, and identity development. It is important to me to provide an affirming space for LGBTQIA+ folx, including providing letters to access gender affirming care, and to be culturally responsive to all identities including those working to integrate anti-bias and anti-racist learnings into their sense of self and their relationships/communities.
This is not at all a requirement of our time together but reading is a big part of my life and I enjoy bringing books into sessions and/or making recommendations on relevant themes when helpful to others.
I know this process can be daunting and require a lot of emotional energy and am happy to start wherever might be comfortable for you. I have telehealth and in-office availability and am happy to consult if other community settings (such as school, work or home-based) might be the right fit for you.
