Maria Vazquez (she/her/ella), LCSW

Hola and welcome! My name is Maria (she/her/ella) and I am a bilingual Licensed Social Worker. Starting therapy can feel scary. Choosing a therapist can feel overwhelming. It takes courage to even begin looking. If you’re here, I want to acknowledge that — and applaud you. My hope is to make this process feel supportive, collaborative, and grounded in trust. Whether I’m sitting with a child learning to express big emotions through play, supporting a teen navigating identity and belonging, or walking alongside a first-generation individual carrying visible and invisible responsibilities, I approach therapy with warmth, respect, and collaboration.

I primarily work with children, adolescents, migrant families, and first-generation individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, eating disorders, and life transitions. My therapeutic style is integrative and thoughtful. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), play therapy, and expressive arts therapy, and I often incorporate writing into sessions as a way to help clients process emotions, reflect, and reconnect with their inner voice. I believe healing can happen in conversation, through creativity, in quiet reflection, and in the courage to name what has felt unspoken.

Therapy with me is not about “fixing” you — it’s about understanding you. It’s about creating a space where vulnerability feels safe, where resilience is recognized, and where you don’t have to navigate life’s challenges alone. Your voice matters. Your story matters. And you deserve a space where both are welcomed fully. I am accepting new clients and welcome all inquiries and can be reached at: maria@humboldtparkcounseling.com.
